​Synopsis

This play is a drama set in Mississippi in the 1950s and centers around the Pollitt family, particularly the relationship between Brick, an alcoholic former football player, his wife, Maggie and his father Big Daddy. The plot explores themes of dishonesty, sexual desire, the struggle for power and control, greed, mendacity, homosexuality, aging and death.

Characters:

· Maggie: The "cat" of the play. Beautiful, lonely, and desperate, Maggie longs for love and recognition from her distant husband, Brick.

· Brick: A broken man hiding behind a mask of masculinity. Brick struggles with alcoholism, repressed feelings for his late friend Skipper, and the weight of his family's expectations.

· Big Daddy: A wealthy, brash plantation owner facing his mortality. He pushes his son Brick to confront his own desires.

· Big Mama: Devoted to her husband but despised by him. Big Mama is a sincere and earnest woman in denial about her husband's true feelings.

· Mae: A scheming woman determined to secure Big Daddy's estate for her family.

· Gooper: The overlooked elder son, a successful lawyer who plots to gain control of the estate, resenting his parents' favoritism toward Brick.

· Reverend Tooker: A hypocritical, tactless guest who angles for a share of the Pollitt estate at Big Daddy’s birthday party.

· Doctor Baugh: Big Daddy's physician, who stays out of the family drama, delivering only the medical truth to his patient.
