The play was written by a local playwright and the director, Paul Whelan, was in the cast of the first production of the play. The provided an ideal opportunity for remounting the work in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Anne of Green Gables (1908). Also, the lighting crew (including Richard Haines, Terry Pratt and Kate Martin) participated in a series of workshops given by the lighting designer, Paul Druet.
